RESIDENTS....
Please remember snow plowing will begin at when
accumulations reach 2 inches.
As we learned from prior storms, please locate storm
drains in your area and try to keep them
clear of ice and snow. We found this imperative with the last melt-off and
rain and this will naturally facilitate the runoff more efficiently. We
thank you all again!
Should
conditions prevent this office being open announcements (including any trash
delays) and status of facilities will be posted on this site. We
will once again be monitoring email at kingstowne@kingstowne.org
in addition to checking voice mail.
If you need to report a concern due to inclement
weather please call 703-922-9477 and dial extension 12 for more details and
information.
We appreciate your patience during any severe conditions as treat the 121 streets
and make the accessible. During
this process and due to the amount of snow being cleared, the crews have been
instructed to minimize excess snow in parking areas by moving the snow to places
that will not impede traffic.
We thank you again!
KINGSTOWNE "WINTER WONDER" PREPAREDNESS
or
Whos Responsible for SNOW PLOWING?
As the 2005-2006 snow season arrives, please be aware that the Kingstowne winter
maintenance contract calls for plowing to begin when two inches of snow have
been recorded at Reagan International Airport.
During a heavy snow, the maintenance crew will concentrate on opening one
lane of roads until all the private streets have been cleared.
After that, the crew will follow up with additional efforts to open as
much of the street areas as possible. During
unusually heavy snow or when snow is falling at a rapid pace, plowing efforts
will require more time. When the
weather keeps residents at home, plowing crews also need to work around vehicles
that are parked in the private street lots.
Our private streets are very narrow which reduce the area to be cleared.
During plowing operations, efforts will be made to minimize snow piles at
the mailboxes and behind automobiles. Please
be aware that it is the responsibility of the individual mail carrier to provide
mail delivery during inclement weather. Neighborhood
participation is greatly appreciated to assist in clearing those areas.
Also, remember that as the plows come down your street, it is nearly
impossible to keep the snow from accumulating behind parked cars.
Every effort is made to help everyone get you where you need to go during
these hectic times. The staff appreciates your continued patience.
The staff and plowing crews maintain a list of “hot spots” or areas where
snow and ice are a particular problem because of rapid freeze-thaws or steep
grades. If you believe an area near your street fits this category, please call
the business office (703-922-9477) and leave a message at extension 12 for
Inclement Weather.
There are three primary organizations responsible for snow plowing on
the streets throughout the Kingstowne community.
Public streets are maintained by Fairfax County.
Private streets are maintained either by KROC or the
developer/builder/management company. For
your reference, below is a listing of areas and the organization
responsible for maintaining them. Questions
or concerns regarding snow plowing should be directed to the appropriate
organization.
