Suggested trees for smaller spaces in Kingstowne

 

Japanese Maple.  There are many varieties and sizes to choose from in the nursery.  Some can reach a height of 25 feet and others only 5 feet. Miniature Crabapple.  These can be used in the really small spaces, but still may require some pruning
Kousa Dogwood.  Choose Kousa because of disease resistance. Kwanzan Cherry.  Great flowering.
Japanese Stewartia Japanese Snowbell.
Doublefile Viburnum. Redbud.  One of the first to flower and it’s native!
Serviceberry.  15-25 feet is typical max height. Tulip magnolia.  This magnolia loses its leaves in winter and has a beautiful flower in spring.
HolliesBurford,  Nellie Stevens, Inkberry, Japanese.  These have many different forms, from shrub-size to 25 feet.  Do not plant American Holly in small spaces.  Click on image to enlarge.
