Eben Donkor
Meet your Soccer Director
I was born to a family of four (4) brothers and three (3) sisters in Ghana West Africa. I was nine (9) years old when I discovered Tennis, my great ambition in life, through my older brother (Isaac) who was one of Ghanas finest tennis players.
In Ghana, every child is introduced to soccer as that is the main sports in the country. Therefore, prior to the age of nine and above, I was constantly playing soccer every weekend nearby, some week nights and some holiday weekends at the beach. So, when I was introduced to tennis, the speed and footwork I have gain from soccer, made tennis an easy transitional sport for me and most Ghana Tennis Players as a whole.
Since then, Tennis has been a big part of my daily life and with the constant practice, hard work, and dedication; I have won many trophies, received recognition, scholarships, and certificates throughout my teen age years.
Constant devotion and being coach able opened many doors to the following outstanding colleges and universities in the United States of America.
- New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI) AA Degree (Attended on a full tennis scholarship).
- American University (AU) Did not accept an 80% tennis scholarship.
- Virginia Military Institute (VMI) Did not accept a 70/30 tennis/soccer scholarship.
- The Citadel Military Academy Did not accept a 70/30 tennis/soccer scholarship.
- Howard University (HU) BA Economics/MIS (Attended on a full tennis scholarship).
- George Washington University (GW) MS in Systems Engineering (Attended on a company sponsored Cohort program).
I was the number one (#1) seed for both NMMI and Howard University. At NMMI, I finished as the captain of the Broncos Tennis team and also received the MVP and the prestigious Cadet Athlete of the Year Award for 2004. At NMMI, I finished my tenure there as number nine (#9) ranked Junior College player in USA. At Howard University, I made it to the front page of the recruiting brochure. My superb Serve and Volley game, coupled with the total control over air balls (Overhead) gave me the title "King of Overhead". While at Howard University, I pride myself on never missing a single day of practice.
