KROC Announcements

Where Can Kids Play?
The Kingstowne community includes 24 tot-lots, three multi-purpose courts, six tennis courts, two swimming pools, and approximately 22 miles of hiking and biking trails - plenty of fun places to play!  Some of the community's playgrounds are built for toddlers, and others, such as the one at Horgan Court, cater to a mix of ages up to preteens.  We are also near public schools with additional outdoor play areas.  KROC encourages residents to explore the community and find fun, age-appropriate places to play.  To find a map of the community, please click here.

KROC does not approve of children playing in the streets.  Even a vehicle driven slower than the speed limit could kill or hurt a child.  Parents must teach their children to avoid playing where they could get hurt.  Even when children are playing in a safe place, they should always be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Yard Debris Pickup
Now that warmer weather is here, it's time for spring cleaning, including yard maintenance.  Wednesday's are Yard Debris Pickup Day throughout Kingstowne, but American Disposal Services (ADS) cannot pick up bags of dirt, rocks or sod.  ADS also cannot remove tree cuttings unless they are bound and cut to three feet or shorter.  Please use transparent bags or paper bags labeled "Yard Debris" for all loose yard debris.  Fairfax County has set these rules, which can be found at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/dpwes/trash/dispaccept.htm.

Sandy Streets
The double-hit Northern Virginia snowstorms this past winter left a lingering reminder on some streets - sand.  Although the sand used to treat KROC private streets has been refined in recent years to allow it to wash off the streets naturally, many areas in the community required a larger amount of sand application that is stubbornly holding onto the streets.  This includes state streets such as Greendale Village Drive and Summer Ridge that were particularly difficult to navigate after the February strom and are cared for by the Virginia Department of Transportation.  Due to budget constraints, KROC will not be hiring street cleaners to remove the sand.

KROC Board of Trustees Agenda
The monthly board agenda and draft meeting highlights are available on this website for residents who are signed in.  They can be found in Living in Kingstowne/Kingstowne Leadership/Meeting Highlights. The agenda contains a preview of subjects that the KROC Board of Trustees will discuss during the upcoming board meetings.  The draft agendas are available to view two weeks prior to the monthly meetings.  The draft highlights are available to view three business days following each board meeting.

Looking for a 64-Gallon Recycling Toter?
Residents now need to contact American Disposal Services (703.368.0500) directly to request cost and delivery information for the 64-gallon recycling toters with wheels and lids.  Residents of newly-developed homes can still request a free 64-gallon recycling toter by emailing with the words "Recycling Toter" in the subject line.
