Home Improvement Information

An Architectural Review Application must be submitted with the checksheet specific to your request.  Click here to find the checksheet that you need for your home improvement.

Like most planned communities, Kingstowne has a process of architectural control. Any exterior improvement that is made to your house or lot, no matter how small, must receive approval from the Architectural Review Committee (ARC) prior to starting the project. Please consult your Kingstowne Owner's Manual for specific guidelines.

Most applications need a copy of the Legal Survey (site plat) for your lot. You can find one in your closing documents. Most applications are considered incomplete without one.

Architectural inspections are done every year.  In order for all homes to be inspected, the inspections are done year round.  Various architectural terms are used to describe house parts after the inspection is complete.  Some terms may sound confusing when describing them. (Ever heard of a rake board?)  Click here to review some common terms.

The ARC meets on the third Wednesday each month and the application submission deadline is eight days before the meeting date. Any applications not received by the deadline will not be reviewed until the next meeting. Sorry, but absolutely no exceptions will be made.

Please keep in mind that approvals are valid for 180 days from the date of approval, so plan ahead and avoid delays.

If you have any questions, or would like to find out more about the standard applications, please call the Business Office at 703-922-9477. Additionally, below is the schedule for future ARC meetings and application deadlines.
